Maevis Elaine (Barrows) Hodgdon, 84, died peacefully Monday, November 23, 2009, at Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield after a lengthy illness.
Born in Stratford, NH April 8, 1925 a daughter of Walter C. and Maevis Claire (Rich) Barrows, she was raised in Groveton and attended Groveton Schools. She worked for several years as a paper inspector at Groveton Paper.
She is survived by her daughter Diane Hodgdon of Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield and her brother Maurice MacDow and wife Shirley of Northumberland; one niece Lisa and two great-nieces.
She was predeceased by her father in 1930; her daughter Linda Elaine Hodgdon on April 16, 1946; husband John Allen Hodgdon January 14, 1977; and her mother Maevis Claire McDow June 28, 1982.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held under the care of Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home, on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Groveton United Methodist Church with Pastor Aaron Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Allen Cemetery in Maidstone, VT.
