ADELAIDE IDA "ADDIE" BOTH, 90, of Boucher Road in Guildhall died peacefully at her home, Thursday, October 11, 2012. Addie was born on November 7, 1921 in Ravena, New York a daughter of Frank and Marion (Vanslyke) Halsted and has been a resident of Guildhall, VT for 23 years coming from the South Hampton/Long Island area. Addie was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII, she was a Lieutenant Navy Nurse, taking care of our military men, saving lives and putting them back together. She was very proud of her military service. When she was not busy at home as a housewife, she worked as a registered nurse in the operating room at South Hampton Hospital in New York. She devoted her life to her husband Louis. She was a member of the Ravena Grange; the American Legion Post #17 in Groveton; a past member of the Elks Club and had been very active with the Girl Scouts. Some of Addie's favorite pastimes were watching the Stock Market; sewing; knitting; crocheting; cross-stitching; making quilts; doing puzzles and watching the wildlife. Addie is known for her saying: "Here's to it. If you don't get to it, to do it, here's to it." Addie is survived by her daughter Gale Brown and husband Todd of Guildhall, VT; one sister Olga Zeahner of Flushing, Long Island; three grandchildren Todd Louis Brown and wife Annette of Enosburg Falls, VT; Lucy Colby and husband Preston of Lunenburg, VT; Addy Brown and boyfriend Cody Perreault of Guildhall, VT; seven great-grandchildren Elizabeth Brown; Katrina Brown; Jon Brown; Todd Brown; Clark Colby; Jack Colby and Will Colby. She was predeceased by her husband Louis Both on November 18, 2010. Calling hour will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 10 - 11 am at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.
