GROVETON ALICE LYDIA (HAWKSLEY) WHITING, 82, of Groveton, died peacefully on Saturday morning October 15, 2005 at her home surrounded by her family. Alice was the most loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and was loved by all. Alice was born in Mars Hill, Maine on February 8, 1923 a daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Hersom) Hawksley. She was a longtime resident of Groveton. She is survives by her three children Edna and husband Norman Young of Maidstone, VT; Barbara and husband Steve Currier of Groveton and Norman and wife Bonnie Whiting of Groveton; a sister Betty and husband Bill Peterson of Lansing, Michigan; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Linwood Whiting on January 26, 2001; one son Neal Whiting on July 14, 1976; one sister Vera Brown and three brothers Merle Hawksley, Fay Hawksley and Frank Hawksley. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005 from 7-9 PM at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday October 18, 2005 at the funeral home with her nephew Bradley Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
