ARNOLD RAYMOND TILTON, died on November 5, 2024, just 11 days before his 82nd birthday, at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.
Arnold was born in Groveton, NH, on November 16, 1942, a son of the late Edward Channie and Florence Gladys (Faulkenham) Tilton. He was a longtime resident of Groveton. He graduated from Groveton High School, class of 1960, and then went on to receive his BS in Industrial Education in 1964 from Keene State College.
Arnold enlisted in the US Army and served his country in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. After returning from the Army, Arnold taught in Nashua for 32 years before moving back to Groveton.
Arnold had his Federal Firearms license and sold and repaired guns for 30 years. He loved spending time with his family hunting and fishing.
Arnold is survived by his sister-in-law, Amelia "Nicky" Tilton of Groveton; his niece and nephews, Shelly Philbrick and husband Keith, Brian Tilton and wife Nora, Stephen Tilton and wife Brenda, and Michael Emery and wife Cheryl; great-nieces and great-nephews, and his longtime companion's daughter, Carmen Santillanes.
Arnold was predeceased by his father on December 22, 1945; mother on December 24, 2005; Sister Pearl Tilton Emery on September 27, 1998; Brothers Channie Tilton on January 31, 2021, and Edward Tilton on May 20, 2022; and his longtime companion Virginia "Ginger" Santillanes on July 23, 2022.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Eungil Cho of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
