Belvah "Belle" King of Groveton passed away on November 1, 2016 at Weeks Medical Center Hospital in Lancaster following a brief illness just four days before her 92 birthday. Belle was born in Lancaster on November 5, 1924 the daughter of Harry and Rilma (Prince) McGuire, the third oldest of nine children. Belle was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1940. Belvah and her husband Ted were married in Groveton on October 12, 1943 by the Reverend Father Rodolphe Heon. She had been a long time employee at the Groveton Paper Mill (James River) for nearly 40 years retiring in 1987.
Belle loved gatherings and reunions of family members and friends and seasonal camping at their cottage on Maidstone Lake in Vermont where she, husband Ted, family and friends had 30 years of joyful living.
She had been an avid reader and a lover of music which was instilled in her by her mother at an early age. Belvah and Ted were great lovers of snow machining.
She and Ted enjoyed some traveling, cruising in the Caribbean on several occasions and visiting their son in Texas and McGuire family members in Ireland.
Belle was a most amiable person, warm and easy going and nonjudgmental. All who knew her will remember her unassuming cordial demeanor.
She was predeceased by her husband Theodore "Ted" King in 1999; three brothers Forrest "Mickey" Maguire; John McGuire; and Gary McGuire and one sister Betty Gould.
She is survived by her son Michael "Mick" King of W. Stewartstown; daughter Sheri & Armand Girouard of Groveton; two grandchildren Vicki Girouard and fiancée Butch Germain of Littleton; Peter Girouard and Maranda Demers of Gorham; two Great-granddaughters Madison Girouard and Felicia Voisine both of Gorham; four siblings Deane Maguire of Groveton/Rhode Island; Barbara Huber of Gowanda, NY; Gloria Nugent of Dublin, Ireland; and James McGuire of North Stratford; many nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral parlor visiting hours or church service at her request. A graveside service will be held at St. Francis Cemetery on the Brown Road in Groveton on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11 am with Reverend Brendan Whittaker officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your preferred charity.
