BERNARD C. KENNETT, 88 formerly of Second Street in Groveton, died peacefully on July 7, 2010 at Coos County Nursing Hospital in Stewartstown, where he had been a resident since 2006, after a brief illness. Born March 30, 1922 in Jefferson, NH a son of Chillion and Mildred (Merrow) Kennett he was a graduate of Lancaster Academy, class of 1941. After high school he served in the U.S. Army, Company E 119th Infantry Regiment during WWII. He then came back to Groveton and continued working for Wyoming Valley Paper Mill, then later for James River Paper Corp. until retiring in 1987. Bernard enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Jody Sweatt and husband Stewart of Rochester, NH; eight sons John Kennett and wife Doris and James Kennett all of Florida; Jeff Kennett and wife Lee of Loudon, NH; Jerry Kennett and wife Martha of Brunswick, VT; Joel Kennett of Groveton; Jay Kennett of Alaska; Jules Kennett and wife Barbara of Colebrook, NH; and Joseph "Roach" Kennett and wife Min of Groveton; 29 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bernard was predeceased by his wife Corinne on June 6, 1996 and his son Jesse Kennett on May 14, 2010; grandson Jared Kennett on June 21, 2008; daughter-in-law Sonia Kennett; his brother Herbie Kennett; his sister Margaret MacKillop. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Northumberland Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Cox of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating.
