BETHANY LYNN "NANA BETH" (SAWYER) DOYON, 73, formerly of Island Pond, VT and Groveton, NH died peacefully on Sunday March 9, 2008 at The Pines Nursing Home in Lyndonville, VT, were she has been a resident since November 2007. Born in Lancaster, NH on August 13, 1934 a daughter of Hollis and Pauline (Crawford) Sawyer, she was raised in Groveton and was a graduate of the Groveton High School, class of 1952. Bethany moved to Island Pond in the mid 1950's and resided there until moving back to Groveton about six years ago. She was the co-owner and operator of the Doyon & Co. Hardware store in Island Pond for many years. She also was a cook for the Island Pond School and the Patenaud Nursing Home in Derby, VT. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Island Pond and the Red Hats Society. She loved doing arts and crafts and cooking for others, the more the merrier. She was a people person and enjoyed spending time with others. Bethany will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son John Doyon and his daughter Cassidy of Island Pond, VT; son Thomas Doyon and wife Peggy along with their daughters Tracie Lambert and husband Lee; Jill Doyon and Jackie Doyon all of Groveton; her deceased son Peter Doyon's children Nicholas Doyon; Breanne Doyon and Dominique Doyon all of Florida and five great grandchildren. Bethany was predeceased by her father Hollis Sawyer; mother Pauline Sawyer Ververis; Step-father George Ververis; son Peter Doyon; sister, Anna Watkins and brother, Richard Sawyer. Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
