CASSANDRA "SANDY" ALICE (SHATNEY) WHITE, 86, of Groveton died peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.

Sandy was born on March 25, 1938, in Clarksville, NH one of six children of the late Harold Edwin and Evelyn J. (Hartlen) Shatney. She graduated from Canaan, VT High School in 1956. Sandy moved to New York for awhile and then moved to Groveton in 1978.

After moving to Groveton, Sandy started working as a lab-tech for James River and Wausau Papers for 14 years.

Sandy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #17, Groveton, and the VFW Auxiliary of Brattleboro, VT. She loved reading and visiting with family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her three children James Lindsay and wife Bonnie of Lake Placid, FL, Candace Gray and Jon White both of Groveton, five grandchildren Kristen Roy, Brent Bagwell, Matthew Ward, and twins Katie White and Toby White, three great-grandchildren Payton, Briar, and Rain, three sisters Urbina Shatney of Charlestown, NH, Hallie Johnston and husband David of Iredell, TX, Harriet Sanborn and husband Jim of Groveton, and John Shatney and wife Rhonda of Bethlehem, NH, and several nieces and nephews.

Sandy was predeceased by the love of her life Lawrence "Lolly" LaPointe on August 9, 2018, Mother Evelyn on February 3, 2001, father May 4, 2001, and sister Sidney Boyle on October 14, 2005.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Emerson Road Cemetery, where Sandy will be laid to rest next to Lolly. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
