CHARLES "CHARLIE" EDWARD CHARBONNEAU, Sr., 76, of Rich St; Groveton, died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.

Charlie was born on October 15, 1941 in Swanton, VT a son of Raymond E. and Elizabeth L. (Wilson) Charbonneau and has been a resident of Groveton his whole life.

Charles was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Prior to retiring he worked for James River Corp. and Wausau Papers retiring in 1996.  Charlie was a lifelong member of VFW Post 6806 and American Legion Post #17 of Groveton and a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Charlie enjoyed watching old Western movies; playing cards; going to camp at Stratford Bog and he loved the Redsox.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joan (Kennett) Charbonneau of Groveton; four children Jana (Norman) Goodhue of Weymouth, Mass.; Lori (Daniel) Charbonneau; Chuck Charbonneau; and Tim (Lora) Charbonneau all of Groveton; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and his grand dog Precious; his two sisters Patricia Nardozzi of Milford, CT and Susan (Ron) Griffin of Haverhill, Mass.; sister-in-law Judy McMann of Groveton; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will Friday December 8, 2017 from 2 until 6 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with Fr. Craig Cheney of the North American Martyrs Parish officiating. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in the Northumberland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charlie's name to a charity of one's choice.
