Obituary

CLARENCE PHILIP "BILL" GAGNON, 88, of Groveton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born on March 19, 1936, in Groveton, NH a son of the late Alfred P. and Maria (McClure) Gagnon. He was a graduate of the Groveton High School, class of 1955.

In his younger years, Bill worked as a meat cutter at the Red and White Market in Groveton, he then worked at the paper mills for 43 years, and his most favorite job ever was being a ride operator at Santa's Village in Jefferson.

Bill was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Community Meals; the Penny Sale Kitchen Crew; and loved to assist in any way he could in the kitchen for church functions.

Bill loved singing and could be heard singing a little tune most anytime and anywhere. He also loved gardening.

Bill is survived by his two sons Michael Gagnon and wife Sandy; and Stanley Gagnon all of Groveton; four grandchildren Katie Lewis and husband Jon; James Gagnon, Philip Gagnon and partner Nancy Robinson, and Pam Gagnon; one great-grandson Liam Lewis; one sister Geraldine Major of Concord, one brother-in-law Lawrence Valliere of Acton, ME, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Janet (Dupuis) Gagnon on October 2, 2019; and four siblings Georgette Goulet, Vase Gagnon, Florent "Bib" Gagnon, and Helen Valliere.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home. Service will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Deborah Szauter, Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant, officiating. Burial of Bill and Janet's cremains will be at the convenience of the family in the spring of 2025.
