STARK CLARICE ELIZABETH "AUNT COCKOO" CORKUM, 86, of Stark died Monday January 2, 2006 at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, Colebrook after a lengthy illness. Born in Dummer, NH on November 29, 1919 a daughter of Horace A. and Eleanor Rae (Owen) Hayes, she grow up in Groveton until the age 18 then moved to Stark were she lived until February 2005 when she became a resident of the Coos County Nursing Hospital in Stewartstown. After High School she attended Elliott Nursing School in Manchester, NH. She was a member of the Stark Union Church, the Stark Pew Holders and the Stark Improvement Fund Committee. She volunteered at Week's Memorial Hospital and received her 2000 hour pin. She was a member of the Groveton Grange for over 70 years. Most recently she was a member of the Stratford, Sate and National Grange Associations. Clarice is survived by her sister Lena Falconer of Canaan, VT; three nieces, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Sherman D. Corkum December 1983 and a brother John Aldon in August 1989. At Clarice's request there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Stark Union Church on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Sherry O'bara, pastor of the Groveton and Stark United Churches officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Northumberland Cemetery.
