CORA "BETTY" E. (SCOTT) DAVENPORT, 79, of Theberge Road in Stratford Hollow, died suddenly, Thursday, June 2, 2011. Born in Stewartstown, NH on August 11, 1931 a daughter of Earl Scott, Sr. and Esther (Covell) Scott, she grew up in Groveton and has lived most of her life in the Hollow. Before retiring Betty worked as a shoe stitcher for the Shoe Shop in Stratford. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her passion was the Stratford Old Home Days. She loved her flowers; woodworking; crocheting; and crafts. When she was younger she helped the elderly. Betty's biggest love of all was her grandchildren, great grandchildren and just children in general. Betty is survived by seven children; David and Pat Davenport of Fort Covington, NY; Nancy and Norman Rainock of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Linda and Allan Carpenter of Littleton, NH; Patricia and George Brooks of Dalton, NH; Daniel and Rae Davenport of Stratford Hollow, NH; Brenda Phillips of Stratford, NH; and Roberta and William Montgomery of Midlothian, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by three siblings; Irwin Scott of Holyoke, Mass., Maxine Rummel of Colorado; and Sheila Yaksetic of Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Earl Scott, Sr. and Esther Wood; one son Donald Davenport and five brothers; Dean Scott, Keene Scott, Earl Scott, Jr., Richard Scott and Frank Wood. The family invites you to attend a graveside service at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Northumberland Cemetery and then a memorial gathering immediately following under the Stratford Hollow Pavilion to celebrate Betty's life.
