IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel Bruce
Davenport
August 26, 1954 – March 8, 2026
DANIEL BRUCE “DAN” DAVENPORT, 71, of Stratford, died at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, after a sudden illness on Sunday, March 8, 2026, with family by his side.
Daniel was born on August 26, 1954, in Stratford, NH, to the late Richard and Cora (Scott) Davenport. He grew up in Stratford and attended Stratford Schools before enlisting in the US Army and serving his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg from 1973 to 1975. He returned to Stratford after the Army and resided there most of his life.
Dan worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the paper mills in Groveton for many years before retiring. In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed riding snowmobiles with his family and friends. Dan loved to tinker on things and try to make them work again, which sometimes worked and other times didn't. Dan loved spending time at his camp with his dog Moxie.
Dan is survived by his three sons Daniel Davenport and wife Celena of Whitefield; Jason Davenport and significant other Jesse Marshall of Littleton; and Adam Davenport and wife Shannon of Conway; his two step-sons Dak Overbagh and wife Megan of Campton, and Hans Overbagh of Stratford; seven grandchildren; four siblings Patty, Linda, Nancy, and David, and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Rae E. Davenport, on October 17, 2024, and three siblings, Roberta, Brenda, and Donald.
At Daniel's request, there will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Daniel's name to the Riverside Animal Rescue, 236 Riverside Ave., Lunenburg, VT 05905.
