Darrell James Lunn, 77, passed away at his home in Andover, NH on September 9, 2018. He was born on April 15, 1941, in Lancaster, NH to Beatrice (Scott) and the late James W. Lunn. Darrell spent most of his life in the North Country.
As a child, he was a frequent visitor to the cinema in Groveton, where he would pay a small fee to spend the day watching the news and motion pictures. This led to a lifelong love of movies and television, especially history programs and anything in the Western genre.
He graduated from Groveton High School in 1959. Following his graduation, Darrell served in the United States Air Force. After training in Amarillo, TX, he was stationed in Athens, Greece and Portsmouth, NH. On June 22, 1968, Darrell married Blanche Harris in the Groveton United Methodist Church. Darrell spent many years at paper mills in the North Country, working at the North Stratford mill until its closure. He collected coins and was a member of the American Legion Post #31.
Darrell is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Blanche (Harris) Lunn, as well as a son, James D. Lunn of Newton; and two daughters, Jodie Maccini and her husband Robert of Woodsville, and Amanda Lunn and her husband Greg Schaefer of McKinney, TX. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Tuttle of Stark, two brothers, Dennis Lunn of Stark; and Dale Lunn of Berlin; three sisters, Carolyn Carey and husband Don of Tucson, AZ; Judith Wentworth and husband Clark, and Linda Wentworth and husband Barry all of Stark. Darrell is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Katherine and Michael Maccini, and Aidan Schaefer.
Darrell was predeceased by his younger brother, Dana Lunn; his father James W. Lunn and his Step-father Arthur Tuttle.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 12-2 p.m. at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St. in Groveton, with a service to follow at the funeral home with Rev. Patricia V. Williams, pastor of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery in Groveton.
