DAVID NEIL NELSON, 95, died peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster where he has been a resident since 2012. David was born on July 8, 1920 in Groveton, NH a son of George and Mabel (Moyle) Nelson. He was a graduate of Groveton High School class of 1938. Dave served in the US Army from October 1942 thru January 1946. He was a resident of Stratford, NH for 30 years and Milan, NH from 1999 until becoming a resident at Country Village in Lancaster. Dave was a member of the American Legion, post # 17, Groveton. Before retiring Dave worked for over 40 years as a Refiner Janitor for the paper mills in Groveton. He loved horses and had several over the years at his farm in Stratford. He was the sexton for the Town of Stratford for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster for all their care and kindness, you have been wonderful people. David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma (Chapman) Nelson of Milan; two daughters Charlotte Penney Calacci and husband Gary of Charlotte, VT and Esther Mary Joyce of Rockport, MA; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and six great grandsons; two nieces Karen Stenzel and Susan Darraugh and husband Michael; one nephew John Giles and wife Elaine and one brother-in-law Eugene Chapman and wife Carol. He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters and one brother. Graveside service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery with Pastor Danielle Rodrigues of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
