DEBORAH JEAN POTTER-ANGWIN, "DEBBI" 77, of Berlin, died peacefully after a brief stay at Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin on Sunday, January 31, 2026, fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer and her family by her side.
Deborah was born in Lancaster, NH, on August 18, 1948, to the late William “Tuddy” Potter, Sr., and Eva Louise (Allin) Potter. She grew up in Groveton and was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1966.
Debbi's proud accomplishment was graduating from Thomas Secretarial School in Concord, NH, while raising her four children. This launched her career in Reception and Administration, proceeding to Management in Ames Department Store for a total of twelve years as the Merchandise Manager and Sales Manager, then retiring in December of 2010 from the Department of Environmental Services, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. After retirement, Debbi returned to northern NH and resided in Gorham for 6.5 years before moving to Berlin in April of 2019.
Debbi was a social butterfly who loved conversation. You would often receive a phone call or video chat from her at any time of day where she would "make her long stories short" with her gift of gab. She loved going out dancing with friends, doing puzzles and crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, making crafts, going out to eat, traveling, being spontaneous, adventurous, and playing BINGO. Her zest for life was fierce and admirable. She just didn't like sitting around being bored, was witty, highly intelligent, and had a great sense of humor.
Debbi is survived by her four children, Alan Rich and wife Sheila of North Woodstock, Shelley Rich-Goodrum and husband Corey Goodrum of Berlin, Stephen Rich, and Sonya Rich of Gorham, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, seven siblings William “Bill” Potter, Jr of Florida, Doug Potter of Chichester, NH, Dave Potter of Florida, Dennis Potter of Berlin, Florence Rowe of Milford, William Rowe, Jr of Florida, and Arthur Rowe, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends, and her beloved cat Gracie. She will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to know her and be a part of her life.
Family and Friends are invited to the calling hours being held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. A brief funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm at the funeral home, where family and friends will also be invited to share their fond memories. A Burial will be in the spring on May 16, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Northumberland Cemetery, then a Celebration of Life will be held this summer to be announced at a later time by her family.
Memorial donations may be made in Debbi's name to the Riverside Animal Rescue, 236 Riverside Ave., Lunenburg, VT 05906.
