Donald James Bacon, 78, of Groveton passed away at his home on November 27, 2019.
Donald was born in Berlin New Hampshire on June 23rd, 1941 and grew up in West Dummer, New Hampshire a son of Edgar and Mildred (Silver) Bacon.
Donald showed a passion for all things mechanical from an early age. As a talented mechanic, he worked for Seaward construction as a maintenance mechanic for many years. During this time, he met many lifelong friends.
Donald served the town of Dummer, NH as a faithful road agent for twenty-three years. He took pride in ensuring the safety of the roads during the harsh winters.
He was best known for his work ethic and unique sense of humor. When not working Donald could be found in his garage in Dummer corner working on various tractors, trucks and other projects. He enjoyed restoring and collecting antique Ford trucks and farm tractors.
He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Barnes) Bacon of 53 years from Groveton NH, his daughter Tammy (Bacon) Cosseboom of Epsom NH, his brother Carl Bacon, Grandchildren Jeff Cosseboom and his wife Amber Cosseboom of Epsom, NH, Cory Cosseboom and his wife Ashley Cosseboom of Deerfield, NH and two great-grandchildren Colton Cosseboom and Jaiden Brown and many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
Donald was predeceased by his parents Edgar Bacon, and Mildred (Silver) Bacon and siblings; brothers Frank, Earl and Ray and sisters Marian Bacon, Ethel Lang, Edith Egan, and Dot Rich.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 5th from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Patricia William's of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be on June 5, 2020, at 11:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery.
