DONALD "DON" BRUCE JACOBS, 67, of Lunenburg, VT died peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2018, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center after two and one-half years of fighting cancer.
Don was born on April 19, 1951, in Newport, VT a son of Arnold Vanie and Elizabeth (Gilbar) Jacobs. Don was a veteran of the US Marine Corp and served his country during the Vietnam War. "Semper-Fi The Few and The Proud".
Don lived in Lancaster for fifteen years and then in Lunenburg since 2013. Don worked at the Double SS Diner in Lancaster, NH for many years and at the Moose Look Restaraunt in Concord, VT after the Double SS closed. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Lunenburg, VT and of the Gilman Senior Center.
Don enjoyed fishing; camping; sitting by the firepit and most of all cooking. He was always quick with a joke and quite the smarty-pants. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his love of 21 years and wife of 12 years Ethel Jacobs of Lunenburg, VT; two step-children Armand Walker and wife Barbara and daughter Katelynn of Lunenburg, VT; and Amber Whitney and fiancé Clint Olson of Guillette, WY; two sisters Mary and husband Bob; Linda and husband Paul; one brother Richard and wife Gwenna; one brother-in-law Barney; a special niece Amber Hubert and several other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters Debbie and Norma.
At Don's request, there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 12:00 noon at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton, NH.
In lieu of flowers, Don requested memorial donations be made to the Infusion Room; C/O Department of Veterans Administration Medical Center; 215 North Main Street; White River Junction, VT 05009.
