DORIS JEANNETTE (BRIEN) GAGNON, 90, of Bellows Falls, Vermont and formerly of Groveton, NH died peacefully Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT with her loving family by her side. Doris was born on September 20, 1924 in Berlin, NH a daughter of the late Octave and Rosanna (St. Pierre) Brien. She moved to Groveton in 1943 when she married her husband Alfred E. "Vase" Gagnon and was a resident of Groveton until she moved to Bellows Falls, VT in 2007. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the St. Francis Church of Groveton. She was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary in Berlin, NH and the Women of the Moose in Groveton. Doris loved embroidering and won many Blue Ribbons at the Lancaster Fair. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing with "Vase". Doris is survived by one son Alfred E. Gagnon II and wife Carol of Cumberland, ME; three daughters Oriole Hawksley and husband Lee of Groveton; Theresa Germain and husband Ron of Lancaster; Lorraine Knowlton and husband Arnold of Bellows Falls, VT; one son-in-law Thomas Covell of Groveton; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband "Vase" Gagnon; one daughter Gloria Covell; six sisters Alexandria Pomerleau; Ozina LaPointe; Mary Blanchard; Beatrice Kelly; Regina Landry; and Irene DeCosta and two brothers Henry Brien and Ovila Brien. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating.
