EARL SILVER BACON, SR., 75, of State Street, Groveton died peacefully, with his family by his side, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center were he had been a resident for about one and a half years, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born February 27, 1931 in Dummer Corner, NH a son of the late Edgar C and Mildred (Silver) Bacon he was a longtime resident of Groveton. Over the years he worked for his father in the woods, Hoosier Engineering, Co.; Seaward Brown, Co. and the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation for more than 20 years. He was a self-made man as a washer and dryer and lawn mower repair man. Earl was the loving husband of Eleanor "Mae" (Lakin) Bacon whom he married on May 15, 1952. He was a caring and devoted father of his children Mark L. Bacon of Groveton and Bonnie B. Losavio and her husband Joseph, Sr. of Southbridge, MA; a proud grandfather of his five grandchildren Nicole B. Losavio; Joseph Losavio, Jr.; Brittani-Lee J. Losavio; Rebecca L. Losavio and Matthew T. E. Losavio. He is also survived by his four brothers Frank Bacon and his wife Marcia of Milan; Carl Bacon of Stark; Ray Bacon of Franklin and Donald Bacon and his wife Carol of Lost Nation; a sister Dorothy Rich of Dummer Corner along with many nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by one son Earl Silver Bacon, Jr.; three sisters Ethel Lang; Edith Egan and Marian Bacon. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 7-9 PM at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 28, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Groveton United Methodist Church; with Rev. Lawrence Clough officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
