ELIZABETH "BETTY" HELEN GOULET LEWIS, 98, of Groveton died peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Country Village Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster after a lengthy illness.

Born February 3, 1919 in Island Pond, Vermont one of eleven children of Joseph and Mary (Morrison) Goulet, Betty has been a resident of Groveton most of her life.

She was named the oldest resident of Northumberland and received the Boston Post Cane on March 18, 2017.

She had worked for many years at the Mary Dagnault Nursing Home in Stratford until it burned and in the house keeping department at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster.

Betty was a member of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish in Groveton and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 17 in Groveton.

Betty enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

Betty is survived by her son Archie L. Lewis, Jr. and  wife Debra of Groveton; four granddaughters Reyna Rowell; Sabrina Lewis; Amanda Valdez and Sally Lewis; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Fogg of Groveton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Archie L. Lewis, Sr.; four sisters Regina "Jean" Goulet; Yvonne Dailey; Mary Platt; and Rita Crawford and five brothers Maurice Goulet; Charlie Goulet; Leo Goulet; Aime "Tim" Goulet and George "Pete" Goulet.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating. . Inurnment will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
