ELMER FREDERICK "DUBBY" CASS, of Graham Street, Groveton died Saturday February 23, 2008, just 15 days after his 78th birthday, at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster after a sudden illness. Born February 7, 1930 in Groveton a son of the James and Sarah (Emery) Cass he was a life long resident. Dubby worked for 42 years as a mill worker retiring February 29, 1992 from James River Corp. He was a member of the National Riffle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Dubby was known as a putterer, always working on something. He will be missed by his family and many friends, especially those whom survive him; his three children Sarah Bloom and husband David of Candia, NH; Deborah Adair and husband Robert of Fair Oaks, CA and Michael Cass and wife Pamela of Groveton; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by two sisters Flora Auger and Elizabeth "Kitty" Arsenault both of Groveton; one brother Robert Cass of North Concord, VT and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dubby was predeceased by both his parents; his wife of 46 years Cliftene "Dinah" Cass on October 17, 2001; and five siblings James Cass; Avery Cass; Ruth Platt; Mary Stinson and Tommy Cass. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church with his niece the Rev. Barbara Sanders, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Northumberland Cemetery.
