ELSIE JANE (POTTER) LAFOE, 73, of Groveton, died peacefully at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH, after a short illness.

Elsie was born in Lancaster, NH, on January 4, 1952, to the late Charles Nelson and Virginia Irene (Pervere) Potter. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1972. Elsie has been a lifelong resident of the north country, from Groveton to Colebrook.

Due to her Epilepsy, Elsie was unable to work, so she became a full-time Grammie and helped to raise her grandchildren. She was a great mom and grandmother, and family was her everything.

Elsie loved to read and watch TV programs that taught her new things, and her favorite show was Maine Cabin Builders.

Elsie is survived by her two children Irene Gonyer and husband "Finn" of Groveton, and Peter Lafoe and wife Nona of Stewartstown, six grandchildren, Troy Lafoe and wife Shelby Lafoe, Dustin Lafoe and wife Lauren Pride, Matthew Milar, Damien Abbey and wife Isabella Desilets, Shyanne Hayes, and Griffin McKearney, one great-grandson Theodore Abbey, two sisters Nancy Hughes of Colebrook and Sally Flanders of Columbia, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by, in addition to her parents, two brothers Robert Potter and Donald Potter and two sisters Betty Wright and Mary Wheeler.

There will be no services at this time. A celebration of Elsie's life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pk at the Kimball Hall, 37 Hollow Road, Stratford, NH 03590. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home, 100 State St., Groveton, NH 03582, by check or through the donate button on Elsie's obituary page to help off-set final expenses.
