Ernest (Jake) Jewell Groveton, NH Jake Jewell, 80 passed away surrounded by his loving family and special companion Barbara Reynolds after a brief illness on June 23, 2007. Jake was born in Groveton, NH on Oct 10, 1926 to Arthur and Florence Jewell. He had eight siblings, Eleanor, Shirley, Pauline, Priscilla, Granville, John, William and Richard. He was predeceased by his wife Beverly Hodgkins Jewell of 52yrs. Survivors include his son Gary and wife Marie of Williston, VT, Randy and wife Kelley of Jericho, VT and daughter Kelly Blackford and husband Ken of Canterbury, NH. He has eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Jake joined the Navy at 17 and served on an escort destroyer in the Pacific Theater. He was proud to be at the signing of the WWII peace treaty. He then returned home to eventually work in the paper industry. After working for 43yrs in the paper industry, he retired from James River Corp. He was an avid fisherman and member of the Dummer Pond Sporting Club where he spent many enjoyable hours. Calling hours will be on Tuesday 6/26 from 7 to 9 pm at the Armstrong Charron funeral home in Groveton , NH. Services will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesday 6/27 starting at 10 am. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Jakes name to the American cancer society.
