Obituary

EVERETT BRUCE BAILEY, SR. 80 of Lancaster Road, died peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 25, 1929 in Derby, Vermont a son of Walter and Marjorie (Phillips) Bailey he was a graduate of North Troy High School, class of 1948. He was a resident of Lancaster for several years before moving to Groveton in 1974. Everett was a member of the Orleans Mason Lodge # 55 in Barton, VT for 55 plus years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow machining, ice fishing, four wheeling, cars, Mack trucks, boating and construction. He worked as a mechanic from 1967 to 1980 and used to build and own stockcars. He was a member of Winlock Camp and he loved cats. He was a heavy equipment operator, owning and operating Everett Bailey Construction for many years. Everett is survived by his wife of 49 years Avis M. (Barber) Bailey of Groveton; two sons Everett Bailey, Jr. and wife Diane of West Winfield, NY; and David Bailey of Burlington, VT; three step-sons Jack Barber and wife Marie of Orange Park, FL; Wayne Leno of Maryland and John Leno and wife Kathy of Dalton, NH; daughter-in-law Lori Bailey of Groveton; brother Phillip Bailey and wife Corrine of Glover, VT; sister Marjorie Anderson of Culpeper, Virginia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; one son Alan Bailey; one daughter Betty Bailey; and one brother Clair Bailey. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Cox of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in the Ridgewell Cemetery in Guildhall, VT. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to either the Week's Hospice; 278 Main Street; Lancaster, NH 03584 or to Norris Cotton Cancer Center; One Medical Way Drive; Lebanon, NH 03766.
