Faye Hannah (Savage) Young, 94, of Groveton, died peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at The Morrison in Whitefield where she has been a resident for the past five years.

Faye was born on April 7, 1929, at home in Bloomfield, VT., a daughter of the late Harry and Stella (Ramsay) Savage. Faye grew up in Bloomfield and was a graduate of Stratford High School, Class of 1947.

In her younger years, Faye worked for the North Stratford Post Office and was a cafeteria helper then served as Head of the Cafeteria for SAU 58 in Northumberland for several years. She was a volunteer at the Groveton Thrift Store and was very active with the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Groveton. Faye and Pooge were loyal Groveton Eagles fans attending games and hosting visiting team players.

Faye enjoyed gardening, and making raspberry jam and pies. She was devoted to her family and friends and would help anyone in need.

Faye is survived by her four children Devon Young of Winthrop, MA; Margo Young of Winthrop, WA; Kirk Young and wife Donna of Olney, MD; and Eric Young and wife Nancy of Petersburg, IL; five grandchildren Kyle; Bridget; Julie; Karyn; and Tom; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by one sister, Beverly Kettle of North Stratford, NH; six nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Faye was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Roland "Pooge" Young; two sisters, Florence Mummey and Barbara Savage, and one brother, Paul Savage.

Memorial Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at The Gathering Place (formerly St. Mark's Episcopal Church) on the corner of Church and Summer Streets in Groveton. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 1:00 pm with Fr. Timothy Brooks officiating. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Stratford.
