World War II Veteran FRANK JOHN RICHARDS, 86, of Brown Road, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 after a sudden illness. Born in Stewartstown, NH December 9, 1919 a son of Perley F. and Sarah Ardes (Heath) Richards, he was a resident of Groveton since 1949, coming from Sutton, NH. Frank was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Fredonwarell Post # 17 and the V.F.W. Post # 6808 both of Groveton. During Frank's working years he owned his own gas business; worked construction on silos for missiles in N.Y. and ran heavy equipment for Jay Gould for many years. At the age of 66, he went to work for the State of New Hampshire Forest and Land Division and finally retired 13 years later. He loved his plants, gardening, fishing working on his wood and his dog "Brandy". Frank was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all. Frank is survived by his wife of 15 years Josephine P. (Hall) Richards of Groveton; two daughters Joan Garland and husband Pete of Arizona and Mae Cantin and husband Raynold of Englewood, FL; one son Bill Glidden and wife Eleanor of Groveton; nine grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. Two brothers Earl Richards of Clarksville and Dick Richards of Canaan, VT along with one sister Alice Conover of Northville, NY and several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his first wife Martha "Mitzi" Richards; a brother Gerrod Richards and a sister Thelma Nickles. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; Groveton. Services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Lawrence Clough, officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
