GERTRUDE “GERT” EVELYN (DeVOST) TISDALE, 75, of Groveton, died peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, with her loving family by her side.

Gert was born on July 17, 1950, in Lancaster, NH, a daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth (Dunham) DeVost. Gert has lived her whole life in Groveton; she just moved from one side of “the hill” to the other.

Before retiring in 2010, she worked for 23 years for Diamond International and James River Paper Co, then Campbell Envelopes, and then Perras Lumber. After retiring, she still worked part-time until 2014.

Gert loved playing BINGO and gambling until COVID-19 hit.

Gert is survived by her three children, Esaundra “Pessy” Cote and husband Robert of Franklin, Michael Brooks and wife DeAnna of Paige, Texas, and Stanley Brooks, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Berlin, four grandchildren, Garrett and wife Chrystal, Megan, Zachary, and Adreana, three great-grandchildren Aubrey, Blake, and Corbin, two sisters, Beverly Roy and husband Jr. of Groveton, and Sharon Cutting of Rumney, NH, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Cecil Tisdale, on November 19, 2014, and two brothers, Donald DeVost and Dean DeVost and wife Penny.

At Gert's request, there will be no services; burial will take place in the Northumberland Cemetery at a later date.
