GLORIA MAE LEIGHTON , 75, of Groveton, died peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster where she had been a resident since January of this year.

Gloria was born in Concord, VT on March 19, 1942 a daughter of Everette Lafoe and Vivian (Reynolds) Trucott. She was raised by Jesse W. and Marion A. (Lafoe) Daniels.  She moved to Groveton from Island Pond, VT at the age of 5 and has lived here since.

Gloria was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church; she was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1960; loved crossword puzzles; jigsaw puzzles; NASCAR racing; and the older country music.

Before retiring she worked at the Ames Department Store in Northumberland for many years.

Gloria is survived by her three sons Michael (Carol) Leighton of Ogden, Utah; Mark (Suzi) Leighton and James (Jay-Anne) Leighton all of Groveton; one daughter Brenda (Phil) Pinette of Groveton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers Robert Trucott of Barton, VT; Richard Trucott of Glover, VT and Ronald Trucott of Groveton; four sisters Betty Larock of Newport, VT; Barbara Vigario and Paulette Labounty both of Barton, VT; and Jeanne Hoadley of Lowell, VT; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Robert O. Leighton on August 24, 2001; and two brothers Donald Trucott and Alfred Trucott.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 5-8 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will be on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve McLeod and Pastor Aaron Cox co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Dummer.
