GORDON HOWARD "TINKER" SMITH, JR., died peacefully at his brother's home in Colebrook on October 10, 2015 after a lengthy illness, he fought a good fight. Gordon was born on May 8, 1949 in West Stewartstown, NH a son of Gordon H. Smith, Sr. and Elmira (O'Brien-Emerson) Smith. He lived in Colebrook until moving to the Manchester and Laconia areas in the early 1990's. Before moving south he worked at the Balsam's Resort and Tillotson Rubber Co. for many years. He and his late wife Rita both worked at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for several years. "Tinker" enjoyed fishing; snow machining; watching wrestling; and collecting tools. He is survived by his parents Gordon, Sr. and Elmira Smith of Columbia; one son Mark Smith and wife Tanya of Laconia; one step-son Dickie Camire and wife Kim of Concord; four siblings Bradley Smith and wife Kelly; Keith Smith and wife Rita; Michael Smith and wife Rosalie and Cindy Lariviere all of Colebrook, grandchildren; nieces and nephews. "Tinker" was predeceased by his wife Rita (Cote) Smith and one son Christopher Smith. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Craig Cheney officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in "Tinker's" name to a charity of one's choice.
