Obituary

HADLEY JOSEPH PLATT, 92, of Groveton, died peacefully at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, on Monday, January 15, 2024, with his loving family by his side.

Hadley was born at his family home in Groveton, NH. He was the eldest son of six children to the late Joseph Henry and Mary Louise (Goulet) Platt.

He worked in a few different industries throughout his career; with great joy and so many memories shared most recently prior to his passing were those during his early employment on family/local dairy farms and trucking transportation for his Uncle Jimmy Platt's businesses. Also, with great pride he served his community for several years side by side with his father as a Northumberland Police Officer.

He worked for The James River Corporation and Wausau Paper for many years. After retirement from Wausau, he worked part-time for Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home for almost five years.

Hadley was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country with great pride at the young age of 18 during the Korean War. He continued to serve as a volunteer in support of fellow service women and men in honor with final salutes at military memorials and through community/holiday ceremonies and celebrations/parades. He was a member of the American Legion Post #17 and the VFW Post #6808 of Groveton.

Hadley is survived by his three daughters Evangeline "Vangie" Davis and husband David of Mirror Lake, NH; Carolyn McQuiston of Northumberland; and Rebecca Scott and husband Stephen of Hampton; three grandchildren Niya Lutar-Graeber; Marcie McQuiston-Brundle; and Patrick Scott; one great-grandson Keylan; one brother Robert "Bobby" Platt, Sr.; and one sister Louise Charron and husband Dennis all of Groveton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Hadley was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Barbara Stewart-Platt; two sisters Eleanor Hook and Jean Doolan; one brother John Platt; and many other lifelong friends and relatives.
