HARRIETTE (PINKHAM) POTTER, 91, of West Street, Groveton, died peacefully May 6, 2007, just 4 days before her 92nd birthday, at Week's Medical Center in Lancaster, with her family by her side. Born May 10, 1915 in Boston, Mass, she has been a resident of Groveton most of her adult life until 2005 when she moved into Holton Point in Lancaster. She was a graduate of North Woodstock High School, class of 1933 and then graduated from Plymouth Normal School in 1937 with her teaching degree. In 1938 she toured threw Canada and much of the U.S. with a bicycling group called the American Youth Hostle. She married J. Richard Potter on July 11, 1941 and began teaching at the Stark one room Elementary School and then taught at the Groveton Elementary School for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association; the Groveton United Methodist Church; the Heart to Heart Bible Study Group and the Eastern Star. Harriette enjoyed knitting and made mittens for the children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Harriette is survived by her two sons and their wives John and Julie Potter of Beverly, Mass. and Alan and Judy Potter of Denver, Col.; her three grandchildren Jay Potter; Andrea Potter and Linsey Jones. She was predeceased by her mother Abbie M. Pinkham; her husband J. Richard Potter on Sept. 3, 2005 and one son Richard Potter. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday May 8, 2007 from 4-7 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral services will be on Wednesday May 9, 2007 at 9:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist with Rev. Sherry O'Bara pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
