HARRY EUGENE IRVING, 77, Guildhall, Vermont died peacefully, August 30, 2008 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a lengthy illness. Born October 16, a son of Vernard and Edith (Goddard) Irving, he was a resident of Groveton until moving to Guildhall in October 1988. Harry was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked for James River Corporation until he retired in 1983. Harry was a member of the American Legion, post #17 and the VFW, post #6808. He was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church. His hobbies included building and flying remote controlled airplanes; hunting, fishing and boating on Maidstone Lake; and he loved animals. Harry is survived by his wife of 38 years Coreen (Wells) Irving of Guildhall; son Michael Irving and wife Carrie of Groveton; daughter Alida Frizzell and husband Bill of Angola, Ind.; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters "Teter" Swift of Groveton and "Nena" Gonyer and husband John of Maidstone, VT. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter Terry Call and one brother Rodney "Joe" Irving. At Harry's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 in the Northumberland Cemetery, with Pastor Aaron Cox of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating.
