HARRY LEE RICE, SR. , 82, died unexpectedly at his winter home in Bushnell, FL on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

Lee was born in Groveton, NH on Thursday, July 6, 1939, to the later James and Vernice (Stinson) Rice. He was a graduate of Groveton High School, after graduation, he entered the US Marines and served his country during the Vietnam Era. After returning home Lee entered law enforcement and was a past Police Chief for the Town of Northumberland and Sheriff for Coos County Sheriff Department. He worked in law enforcement for over 35 years.

He was very active in and eventually served as president of the New England Chiefs Association. He also served as secretary of the Moose Club in Groveton for many years.

Lee has wintered in Bushnell, FL, and summered in Lancaster, NH at Rogers Campground for the past nineteen years. His hobbies included but were not limited to, hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He loved puttering around at the campground and assisting with BINGO in Florida.

Lee is survived by his children Harry Lee Rice, Jr and wife Deborah of Groveton; Harold Rice and wife Janet of Nashua; Carla Gadwah and husband Arthur of Colebrook; Theodore Hamlin of Burgaw, NC; Janet Savage and husband Chet of Lancaster and Arizona; and James Hamlin and wife Lynn of Merrimack; along with seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Paul Rice of Hampton; and one sister Harriette Levette of Dover; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lee was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Helen Rice on January 1, 2017; and one sister Alberta Beausoliel.

At Lee's request, there will be no calling hours or services at this time. A graveside service with Military honors will be held on June 10, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Colebrook Village Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
