HATTIE M. (GRAY) YORK, 102, formerly of Groveton, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster after a brief illness. Mrs. York was born May 25, 1910 in Hereford, P.Q., Canada the daughter of Samuel and Vera (Rowell) Gray. The family moved to Canaan, VT in 1918 and Mrs. York attended the Colebrook schools. She was a graduate of Colebrook Academy class of 1928, and the Northampton Commercial College, Northampton, MA; and was employed for ten years in the office of the New Hampshire-Vermont Lumber Company in North Stratford, NH. After her marriage to Rex E. York on August 16, 1936, she lived in Northumberland, NH except for 3-1/2 years during WWII when the family lived in Durham, NH. She was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and had been a member of the Neeburban Club and Pilot Chapter No. 65 of Eastern Star. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Allen of Vero Beach, FL and Linda Muldoon of Potomac, MD; a grandson John Muldoon, Jr. of Superior, Colorado; a great-granddaughter Kate Muldoon and a great-grandson Rex Muldoon of Superior, Colorado; a brother Stanley Gray of East Charleston, VT and several nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Rex York on October 14, 2010; a grandson Steven Muldoon; three brothers and two sisters. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Ridgewell Cemetery in Guildhall, VT. Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton is in charge of arrangements.
