Obituary

"Professional Volunteer; Coolest Mother; NASCAR Fan" HAZEL M. (GILMAN) PARADIS, 73, of Melcher Street, Groveton died peacefully at Week's Medical Center, Lancaster on Saturday September 2, 2006 with her family by her side. Born November 30, 1932 in Franklin, NH a daughter of the late Ernest, Sr. and Marion (Bagley) Gilman, she has been a resident of Groveton most of her life. Hazel was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1951. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, the Daughters of Isabella and the Groveton American Legion Auxillary. She was a patient sitter for many years; a professional volunteer; an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed playing bingo and poker. She was the supervisor of the Groveton check list for many years. Hazel loved being with her family and friends and was the coolest mom. She will be deeply missed by all whom know her. Hazel is survived by her son Robert Paradis, Jr. of Groveton; daughter Debra Laflamme and husband Roland of Groveton; two grandsons Dylan Paradis and Tyler Gilman. One sister Gloria Hannan of West Mister, CA and one brother Robert Gilman of Alexandria, NH along with many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Robert Paradis, Sr. October 28, 2000; a grandson Logan Chumack May 19, 2006; two brothers Arthur Gilman and Ernest Gilman, Jr. and one sister Barbara Dorman. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 6th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton, the rosary will be recited at 7:15 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 7th at 11:00 Am at the St. Francis Xavier Church; 11 State Street; Groveton with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 8th at 11:00 AM in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery; 110 Daniel Webster Highway; Boscawen. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Assoc.; New Hampshire Affiliate; 249 Canal Street; Manchester, NH 03101 or the Norris Cotton Cancer Center; One Medical Center Drive; Lebanon, NH 03756-0001.
