HELEN BERNICE HOPPS, 85 , of Town Garage Road in Stark died peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017 at her home where she had been cared for by her granddaughter Sandra and two great-granddaughters Crystal and Tabatha "Tabby".
Helen was born on June 30, 1932 in Groveton, NH a daughter of Francis Hopps, Sr. and Blanche (Woods) Hopps and has been a resident of Groveton and Stark her whole life.
Before retiring she worked for the Campbell Paper and Plywood Mills. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose for over 38 years. Helen enjoyed sewing; knitting; crocheting; crossword puzzles and puzzles.
Helen is survived by her six children; Edwin "Sam" Shannon, Jr. and his significant other Donna of Lunenburg, VT; Ralph "Skeeter" Shannon of Milan, NH; Robin Montgomery and husband Richard of Stark; Michael Shannon of Pittsburg; Harold Shannon and his significant other Helen of North Woodstock; and Donna Bailey of West Milan; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen is also survived by five siblings Linda Roy of Stratford; Florence Dupuis of Groveton; Jean Dingman of Jefferson; Janet Rocha of New York; and Roland Hopps of Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, her dog Mini and her grand-dog Angel.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, including, her twin Hazel Bedell; Norma Gadwah and Gloria Alexander; and three brothers Bernard Hopps; Francis Hopps, Jr.; and Harry Hopps.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10:00 am – 12 noon at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Emerson Road Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army USA; 615 Slaters Lane; Alexandria, Virginia 22313.
