WWII VETERAN/PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT HENRY ELEY "PEPERE" CHARRON, 85, of Route 110, Groveton died peacefully Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster , after a lengthy illness. Born the oldest son of thirteen children to Eley and Emelia (Carbonneau) Charron in Rock Island, Quebec on April 30, 1922, he has been a resident of Groveton since the age of 16. Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for James River Corp. until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Fredonwarell Post #17, Groveton. Henry loved playing Poker with his family and friends; he enjoyed golfing; spending time with his family and traveling to Canada to see his brothers and sisters. He liked to go for rides and eat Chinese Food. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Henry is survived by his three children Denise Robie and husband George of Hill, NH; Dennis Charron and wife Louise, and Delores Blodgett and husband Tim all of Groveton. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Marcia Motta and husband Ron; Michael Mahurin and wife Desiree; Reginald "Reggie" Charron and wife Terri; Eric Boisselle and girlfriend Julie Haas; Andrea Hamel and husband Brandon; and Adam Blodgett and wife Sarah; and thirteen great grandchildren. His four sisters Jeanne Gaudet; Pauline Lacourse; Cecile Mercier; and Yvette Lepointe and three brothers Laurent; Donald; and Gerard all of Canada also survived him. He is predeceased by his parents; his wife Irene (Gardiner) Charron; three sisters and two brothers. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton, with Pastor Daniel Deveau officiating. Interment will be in the spring in the St. Francis Cemetery, Groveton.
