IDA H. (BARLOW) SHANNON, 99 of Stark Highway, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin after a lengthy illness. Born in Groveton, NH on August 15, 1910 a daughter of William and Ethel (Hubbard) Barlow she has been a resident of Stark most of her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church; the Groveton Grange, Pomona and National; Lt. Clark Stevens Relief Corps #87; Woman's Auxiliary; Loyal Order of the Moose; Senior Citizens Club; RSVP; Salvation Army of Berlin; the NH Veterans Association and the Stark Improvement Fund Committee. Ida played the cornet; piano; organ; guitar and tambourine. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by five children Mary Fluery of Stark/Lancaster; Jean Fairweather of South Carolina; Joe Shannon of Stark; Fred Shannon of Guildhall, VT and Helen Maculley of Maryland; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by her husband Ralph Shannon on August 2, 1961; two sons, Edwin Shannon and Otis Shannon; her parents; and siblings. Calling hours will be held on Thursday December 10, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 11, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church with Pastor Aaron Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
