IRENE R. BERTHOLDT,84, of McKee Inn, Lancaster died Friday March 17, 2006 at Week's Medical Center, Lancaster. Formerly of Groveton Irene has been a resident of McKee Inn for the past nine months. Born September 11, 1921 in West Warwick, Rhode Island a daughter of Edward J. and Marie R. (Guilmette) Corbin she was a resident of Groveton for 17 years before moving to Lancaster, coming from Block Island, Rhode Island were she was a resident for 20 years. Before retiring Irene worked for many years as a chamber maid in Block Island and many years in garment and lace mills. She loved to go out for supper and dancing and spending time with her family. Irene was a past member of the Women of the Moose in Groveton and a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church. Irene is survived by her seven children and their spouses; Judy and husband Paul LaRochelle of Stark; Carol Kettle of Coventry, R.I.; James and wife Sharon Bertholdt of Milan; Dianna Bertholdt of Navarre, FL; twin daughters Kathy and husband Dick Cook of Northumberland and Laurie and husband Peter Gempp of Block Island, R.I.; and Tammy and husband Patrick Brown of Sanbornville, NH. 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; her loving companion of 13 years Rodney LeClaire of Lancaster along with her brother Donald and wife Betty Corbin of Williamsport, Penn.; sister Elaine and husband Roy Demers of Providence, R.I.; sister Eleanor Corbin of Hollywood, FL; brother-in-law Jim Nicholas of Exeter, R.I.; brother-in-law Charles Green of Exeter, R.I. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousin also survive her. Irene was predeceased by her husband Raymond R. Bertholdt in 1983; one son Raymond E. Bertholdt in 1990 and two sisters Shirley Nicholas and Evelyn Green. Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 19, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20th at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Sherri O'Bara, pastor of the Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Emerson Road Cemetery in Stark.
