Obituary

GROVETON J. RICHARD POTTER, 90, of West Street, Groveton died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Week's Medical Center, Lancaster after a brief illness. Born April 16, 1915 in Northumberland, NH a son of Clayton and Stella (Masure) Potter he was a lifelong resident of Groveton until January 2005 when he moved to Country-Village Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster. A graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1933 he served in the United States Navy during WWII. After returning from the military he worked for Groveton Paper Company as a credit manager until he retired Richard was a member of the Groveton Untied Methodist Church; the Methodist Men's Club and was very active in the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows; Gilkey Lodge #101, Groveton; and a past member of the Board of Trusties at Week's Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Harriette Potter of Groveton; two sons John and his wife Julie Potter of Beverly, Mass. and Alan and his wife Judy Potter of Denver, CO; three grandchildren and one sister-in-law Ruth Potter of Groveton. He was predeceased by one son Richard Potter; two sisters Donna Young and Dorothy Potter and one brother Howard Potter. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 5, 200 from 4-7 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 6, at 10:00 am at the Groveton United Methodist Church; 46 State Street, with the retired Rev. Curtis Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to the Groveton Ambulance Corp; C/O Sandy Mason; 7 Arlington Ave.; Groveton, NH 03582.
