JAMES "JIM" DAVID DOOLAN, 65 of Graham Street, Groveton died Sunday March 19, 2006 after a brief illness. Born March 12, 1941 in Lancaster, New Hampshire a son of David T. and Sarah "Sally" E. (McHarg) Doolan. Jim was raised in Lancaster and was a graduate of Lancaster Academy, class of 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a resident of Groveton most of his life. Before retiring in 2002 he worked for 30 years for Diamond International and James River as a supervisor in the #4 finishing room and then eight years for Wausau Papers as a laborer. Jim was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church; the American Legion, Post #17; V.F.W. post #6808; Knight of Columbus 3rd degree counsel # 2339. He was an avid bowler and bowled on a bowling league for many years. He was a member of the Groveton Trailblazers and was a past Town Zoning Board Member. He also loved to ride around town. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be missed by all whom knew him. Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Michael James and Nikki Doolan of Groveton; granddaughter Brittany Jean Doolan and grandson Benjamin Michael James Doolan both of Groveton; grandson Alan Demers of Berlin;brothers and sisters and their spouses William "Bill" and Sylvis Doolan ; Evelyn "Evie" and Dean Wesson all of Lancaster; Judy and Emanuel "Bebs" Brochu of Concord, NH and Brian "Dusty" Doolan of Stark along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws; Hadley and Barbara Platt of Groveton; Eleanor Hook of Brunswick, VT; Robert "Bob" Platt of Lancaster; John & Corinne Platt and Louise and Dennis Charron all of Groveton. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years Jean (Platt) Doolan July 23, 2001; his father David in 1957; his step-father Arthur Norris in 1982; mother "Sally" in 1997; sister Nancy Hamilton in 1971; sister Maryanne Walker in 1998 and his brother John Doolan in 2005. He is also predeceased by his sister-in-law Rita Platt in 2003 and brother-in-law Lawrence Hook in 2004. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 21st from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State Street; Groveton. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday March 22nd at 10:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church; 11 State Street; Groveton with Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the St. Francis Cemetery.
