JAMES JOSEPH "JOE" MORSE, SR. , 80, of Fiske St., Groveton, died peacefully at his home on Monday, October 11, 2021, with his loving family by his side.

"Joe" was born on November 21, 1940 in Lowell, MA. A son of Elliot S. and Mary E. (Cosgrove) Morse. He grew up in Wilmington and South Lawrence, MA and moved to Groveton in 1988.

"Joe" was a general laborer, a mechanic, had his CDL, and had his Landfill Operators License and had managed the Northumberland Dump for several years. He enjoyed picking through the dump, "One man's trash is another man's treasure". His pride and joy was working at the Riverside Speedway, over the years he had been an infield official, and later years worked the gate.

He loved his grandchildren and especially spending time with his grandson and partner in crime Kyle.

"Joe" is survived by two children Rose Ferreira of Methuen, MA; and James J. Morse, Jr. and wife Jenny of Queensbury, NY; three grandchildren Sarah Paine; Kyle Morse and Madelyn Morse; sister Lucielle Smalley of Wilmington, MA; his special friend Betty Dow of Groveton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife of 38 years Joyce Morse on December 8, 2008; his son-in-law Michael Ferreira; one brother Paul Olson; and two sisters Jere Ralls; and Joan McGovern.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St.; Groveton. Graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm in the Northumberland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
