JAMES REGINALD PEERS, 86, of Stark, died peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, with his loving family by his side.

James was born on April 27, 1937, in Groveton, NH to the late James Edwin Peers and Dorothy Margaret (Cook) Peers Wheeler. James was known as "Jim" and "Reggie" by his friends and family.

Jim was raised in Groveton; moved to Massachusetts in 1955, returning to Stark in 1974. Before retiring he worked several years in the Finishing Room as a machine tender for James River Paper and Wausau Papers; he drove a school bus for the Town of Stark for a few years; and for Berlin City Auto Dealers for ten years.

He was a member of the Stark United Methodist Church; the Gilkey Lodge F & AM 101; and was the past treasurer of the Stark United Men's group. He loved fishing and attending the local races with his family. He spent several years as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Stark.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army.

Jim is survived by his daughter Betty Arbia of Stark; three grandchildren Ashley; Alexandra; and Joseph; three great-grandchildren Joseph V; Jackson; and Vincent; one sister Juanita Benway of Stark; one brother Wayne Wheeler of Concord; his lifelong partner Betty Rivella of Massachusetts; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by one sister Joyce Marilyn Mason.

There will be no calling hours or services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Jim's home at 35 Thompson Road, Stark. Bring your own beverage; chair; and tent.  Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you plant a tree in Jim's name or memorial donations may be made in his name to the Stark United Methodist Church; C/O Debbie Joyce; PO Box 36; Stark, NH 03582.
