JANE CLARICE (McMILLEN) SHANNON, 80, of Groveton died peacefully on Monday January 23, 2017 at Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown after a lengthy illness.

Jane was born on August 15, 1936 in Biddeford, ME a daughter of Preston and Mae (Reid) McMillen. She lived in the Stark/ Groveton area for 58 years coming from Maine and has been a resident of Coos County Nursing Hospital since January of 2016.

Before retiring Jane worked as an LNA at Weeks Medical Center; Country Village Elder Care; and Granite State Independent Living. Over the years she also worked at James River Corp.; in Housekeeping at the Lancaster Motor Inn; and Mittersill Alpine Resort in Franconia. Jane was the first licensed female EMT in Coos County.

She was a member of the Lancaster Assembly of God Church and a past member of the Stark Union Church.

Jane is survived by her children Lauren  (Larry) Spargo of Maine; Deborah (Neal) Parks of Stark; Will (Lynne) Mitchell of Ohio; Lewis (Valentina) Niles of Whitefield; Kimberly (Todd) Sirois of Dalton, NH; Erin (Rejean) Bissonnette of Groveton; Michael Shannon of West Stewartstown; Edwin "Sam" (Donna) Shannon, Jr. of Lunenburg, VT; and Harold (Helen) Shannon of Stratford; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister Sandra (David) Wilson of Lake Alfred, FL; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; her dog Grace; and two special friends Janet Burgess and Shelia Repko.

She was predeceased by her husband Edwin Shannon, Sr. one daughter Terry Niles; grandson Peter; and one niece Heather.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2-4 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral service will follow immediately after at the funeral home with Pastor Seth Frink of the Lancaster Assembly of God Church officiating.  Inurnment will be on June 3, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Emerson Road Cemetery.
