JANET BEVERLY DeFORREST, 70, of Old Village Road Northumberland died unexpectedly on Friday, January 29, 2021, due to smoke inhalation received during a fire at her home where she had lived for the past six years.

Janet was born on February 19, 1950, in Orangeburg, South Carolina the daughter of Leo and Lucille Kerford. She grew up in South Carolina and became a teacher. She taught in South Carolina; Germany; and Missouri for a total of thirty years before retiring. She was a fantastic pianist, she kept in contact with her students over the years and while teaching was very active with after school activities.

Janet is survived by her husband Charles DeForrest of Northumberland and her daughter Heidi of South Carolina

Burial.of cremains was June of 2023 in the Life Forrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
