JANICE BEVERLY “NIECIE” (JOHNSON) HOPPS, 93, of Pike Street in Groveton, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 27, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Janice was born on June 24, 1933, in Colebrook, NH, to the late Ralph and Lila May (Ellis) Johnson, and has been a resident of Groveton since 1948. She attended school in Stratford from 1st to 10th grade and was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1951.

Before retiring, Janice worked as a domestic engineer, cleaning for both private homes and businesses.

Niecie was a fabulous seamstress and enjoyed crafts, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved watching the cardinals. Over the years, she raised nine foster children.

Janice is survived by her three sons, Kevin Hopps and fiancee Sharon Guldin, Kerry Hopps all of Groveton, and Keith Hopps and wife Katie of Colebrook, one daughter Randa Gonyer and husband Kirby of Groveton, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two “adopted” grandsons Kienan Hibbard and Nolan Hibbard, three nieces Lori Hibbard of Stark, Tina Hunt of Groveton, and Mary Jane Clark of Guildhall, VT and her companion of 24 years Andrew “Red” Cote of Groveton.

She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Hopps, her sister Geraldine “Gerry” Swift, and her nephew Michael Perley Swift.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 am in the Northumberland Cemetery.
