JOHN ALLEN PHILLIPS, SR. , 69, formerly of Colebrook and Lancaster died suddenly at his apartment in Bethlehem on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 after losing his battle with diabetes.

John was born in Stewartstown, NH on February 20, 1947 the tenth child of Burt and Evelyn (Holden) Phillips; he was one of nineteen children.  He was a graduate of the Colebrook Academy, class of 1965.  He lived in Colebrook until 1994 before moving down state for twelve years then returned to the North Country about three years ago and lived in Lancaster until moving to Bethlehem about two months ago.

Over the years John worked for Ethan Allen for 19 years; Dan Hebert as a plumber for 15 years; and as a contractor down south for 12 years.   John was a Facebook Junky.

John is survived by his four children Jeanne Mills of Webster, NH; Julie Beals of Warner, NH; John A. Phillips, Jr. of Sarasota, FL; and Allen Phillips of Whitefield, NH; ; eight sisters, Grace (Leigh) Lahoux of Sanford, Maine, Carlene (Roger) LaBranche of Farmington, N.H., Nellie Samantha Roy of Manchester, Doris (Gerry) Goyette of Bokeelia, Fla., Dorothy Phillips of Bedford, Sue (Paul) Normand and Donna (John) McLaran, both of Rochester, and Nancy Phillips of Georgia; seven brothers, Richard (Amy) of Hinsdale, Harold (Carol) of Antrim, Stewart (Heidi) of Canaan, Carl (Sandy) of Ashburnham, Mass, Wayne of Stratford, Derwood "Stubby" (Tina) of Lancaster, and Michael Phillips of Colebrook; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Ellen Phillips and Barbara Phillips Cass and one brother Roy Phillips.

A Celebration of John's life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.
