Obituary

JON DOUGLAS COOK, 54, of Potato Hill Road in North Stratford, died at his home on September 20, 2017 after a short illness.

Jon was born on May 21, 1963 in Weymouth, MA a son of Robert W. Cook, Sr. and Frances G. (Bicknell) Cook.  He was a graduate of Gilford High School class of 1981. He was a resident of Gilmanton, NH for several years before moving to North Stratford in May 1989.

Jon worked as a machinist at Ethan Allen for twenty-four years before having to stop work do to his illness in July of 2017.

Jon was known for wearing shorts in the middle of winter. He loved snow machining; his flower gardens; fishing; his "cat time" and watching the news; spending time with his children and giving his son-in-law a hard time. Jon said that his greatest accomplishment was raising his children to be the dependable adults they have become.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Margaret "Peggi" (Champagne) Cook of North Stratford; his daughter Gwendolyn Adams and husband Benjamin of Saco, ME; his son Joseph Cook and fiancée Diana Frechette of Manchester, NH; six siblings Robert Cook Jr. and wife Lois; Arthur Cook and Katherine Guillaum; Linda Cook Littlefield; Karen Cook Troupe and husband Roger; Kenneth Cook and wife Louise; and Robin Cook Hill; Numerous nieces; nephews and great nieces and great nephews; his dog Honey and cat Tony.

At Jon's request there will be no calling hours or services.  Family and friends are welcome to join the family at Jon and Peggi's home on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm for a gathering and celebration of Jon's life.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to be made to the Mary Wright Halo Foundation; 1073 Upper Quarry Road; Newport, VT 05855.
