Obituary

JOSEPH RAY LENNON, 60, of Highland St, Whitefield, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 28, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Chelsea, MA., on June 27, 1963, a son of the late James C. and Lorraine A. (Hughes) Lennon.

Although Joe lived with a disability from his youth and struggled with his recent illness, Joe managed to stay very active and live a full life. Joey volunteered at The Morrison for nearly twenty years, participated in the Adaptive Sports Ski Program at Cannon Mountain for several years, tended to the horses at Stable Connections in Guildhall, VT, was a member of the Whitefield Christian Church, and loved spending long summers on Lake Winnipesaukee/Weirs Beach, Laconia, NH. Joe absolutely loved 18-wheeler trucks and going on road trips. He enjoyed flying to North Carolina with Jim and he was always up for a summertime picnic, especially over on Spindle Point, Meredith, NH, and Gunstock Acres in Gilford, NH. Joe enjoyed getting out on the big lake either in a pontoon boat or the M.S. Mount Washington Boat and going out to eat at various restaurants. There are so many other places/activities that Joe enjoyed that are too numerous to list! Joe had the biggest and nicest smile that would light up a room and he loved his nighttime/church prayers, always ending the prayer with a big, loud, AMEN!

He is survived by one sister Anna Balch and her husband Bernie of East Thetford, VT; two brothers James Lennon and Charles Lennon both of Twin Mountain, NH; his caregiver/best pal of twenty-five years James Burghoff, Jr. of Whitefield, NH and his good buddy/housemate for nearly 24 years, David Stephenson of Whitefield.

Special thanks to; Northern Human Services/Common Ground staff, Life Coping staff, Office of Public Guardianship staff, Ammonoosuc Community Health Services staff, North Country Hospice staff, and Joe's dedicated respite staff. We can't thank the various organizations, family, and friends enough, that helped Joey enrich his life over the years. We were all blessed to have him in our lives, and we will all miss him dearly.

Funeral service will be held on January 13th from 1 pm-3 pm at the Whitefield Christian Church; 3 School St.; Whitefield, NH 03598. A Celebration of life will be held at the cottage in Weirs Beach, at the convenience of the family.

If you'd like, a donation in Joe's memory can be made to any one of the fine organizations mentioned above.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home; 100 State St.; Groveton, NH 03582
